So you need to take photos for your photo id’s and you really have no idea what to do, well hopefully this article will help.
To make sure your photo ids look proper make sure all the variables remain consistent. Below is a check list to help you with this.
- Take all the photos with the same color background behind the subject. It would even be best if you could take the photos in the same room. By taking the photos in the same room you will have consistent lighting for all the photos and your name badges will turn out much more consistent.
- Take the photos the same distance from the subject. This way each photo has the subject the same size.
- Frame the individuals consistently. If you are framing the person vertically – take all the photos that way. It does not matter which orientation you use for the photos just do it consistently.
- Make sure the lighting in the room remains consistent. Once again this will lend some uniformity to your picture ids
- Have people smile! This is not a mug shot, everyone looks better with a smile.
- If you have the option, ask everyone to wear a company shirt or the same color shirt for their photo.
- Make sure the background is a solid color. Do not take the photos against a background that is multicolor or has text written on it.
After the photos are taken you need to get a list together of the photos and matching names. You can do this a couple of ways but the easiest is to compose a list of employees and their picture number, such as 001.jpg – Janice Wright. Or if you like you can rename each picture the employee name. We just need an easy way to match the photo and the person’s name. Then email the images and list over to us for your photo id production.
