The choice on material for your name tag determines the look and style of your badge. We have several different substrates to choose from in our line of tags.
The most popular types are Metal Name Tags, Plastic Engraved Name Tags and Full Color Plastic Name Tags. Below you will find out more information about each product and their unique characteristics.
Metal Name Tags: Metal name tags are fast becoming one of our top sellers. We use a .032 aluminum tag and digitally imprint your design and name information. The metal tag has a brushed finish and is available in gold, silver, bronze and white. Once we have completed the tag we round the corners for a nice finished look. The aluminum makes for a nice light weight name badge and rides nicely on the lapel of your clothing. The brushed finish tones down any scratches your badge may receive in day to day use. Metal name tags are mainly used in an office or corporate setting where style is of the utmost importance. To finish the badge off you may add a metal badge frame to give your name tag that "Executive Look". One of the down sides to metal is that it is only available in rectangular shapes and sizes. Custom shapes are not available.
Engraved Plastic Name Tags : I really hate the word plastic but that is the only way to accurately describe these badges. I could use the phrase "multi layer acrylic" but that would be a bit over the top. Basically a plastic name tag is made from a material with a surface color and a core color. We etch through the surface color into the core to reveal the lettering color - generally a contrasting color. These badges are great because of the multitude of colors that are available. The only drawback to this badge is it is a two color finished product. Multicolor logos must be screened onto the surface and then the names have to be engraved later. This is not a cost effective way to produce small numbers of badges. But if you want your name and logo in the same color - this is the badge. For those of you who want an engraved badge but the look of metal we have brushed gold and silver engraved name tags where the name and design turn out black. Plastic is great because custom shapes and sizes are not a problem. We can either laser your design or use the old stand by rotary machine to imprint your design.
Full Color Name Tags : Full color name tags are fairly new to the market but are grabbing their market share in increasing amounts. Full color tags start out as a white plastic and are digitally imprinted. The digital imprinting on these tags is great because we can print a one color badge for the same cost as a 12 color badge! Small quantities of badges with multicolor are not a problem and reproducing just one is a breeze. If you want a tag with a color background we flood print the tag with your background color choice and lay the design on top. This works nicely with the only drawback being that any small text sometimes will fill in with your background color. The unisub material we use has a nice weight and can be easily custom shaped or sized to meet your unique needs.
Each of the different name tag materials have their own unique characteristics that dictate how the tag finishes and looks. However you can be assured that each of the materials we use are of the finest available and your badges will be professional looking and will provide many years of service.
