Engraved name tags are produced by etching through the surface of the tag and revealing the core. The basic type of engraved name tag is plastic. This plastic has a surface color and a core color. The surface is etched by using a rotary engraver with various size cutters or by use of a laser. Once the surface is penetrated it reveals the core color is revealed and this is the color of your lettering and or logo. This creates a two color name badge.
Some metal name tags are engraved but digital printing is the imprinting method of choice for metal. The reason for using color printing is the metal we use has an aluminum core so when etched through the resulting lettering is silver. When we digitally imprint the metal name tag we have a wider variety of type styles and colors to choose from.
