In order to have your name tags produced correctly one the most important aspect is having the correct artwork.
Whether you have an engraved name tag or a name tag with a full color logo, vector artwork is the preferred format. With vector art the design is composed of lines, curves and color fills. This type of art allows for easy editing and color matching for name tags with full color logos or designs. The lines in vector art tend to be cleaner and crisper than bitmap artwork. Typical extensions for Vector art is .cdr, .ai, .eps and .fh.
The second kind of artwork is Bitmap Artwork. Bitmaps are composed of small squares of information. Some bitmaps work fine when producing your name tags however color editing, minor clean up, straightening of lines and curves does present a problem when trying to do quick editing. Bitmaps generally have the following extensions; .bmp. .jpg, tif, .psd and .gif. These formats will work but only at higher resolutions such as 300 dpi and above. Lower resolution images (under 100kb) tend to have fuzzy edges and lines. Black and white bitmap art works the best for conversion to Vector art.
Remember that your name tags or any printing for that matter is only as good as your art!
